About Me

I'm a practicing physician double boarded in Emergency Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. I split my time between an academic emergency department and an inpatient palliative consult service.

I initially started this web page as a place to discuss healthcare worker burnout–a serious problem facing the US healthcare system. In a roundabout way, my interest in provider wellness led me to the area of informatics and data science. Learning about the ways that technology can improve patient and provider wellbeing feels far more productive than raging against the system.

Since 2023, I've been teaching myself as much as I can about data science, informatics, and artificial intelligence as they relate to clinical medicine and medical education. A big part of that has been taking on projects in an effort to learn by doing.

At this point, most of my writing has become a way to solidify my knowledge through explaining new topics I have learned. Essentially the "teach one" part of "see one, do one, teach one."

I don't have enough hours in the day to write about every project I'm working on, but I do try to keep my portfolio page updated.
